Introducing Grès et Delibasi
SP01 is proud to now be represented in Europe by Grès et Delibasi, a business development agency based in Amsterdam.
In this interview, Executive Directors Elaine Enright and Catherine Turnbull share their thoughts on why the business was created to bridge a gap between the creative industry and industry partners.
What is the relationship between Grès et Delibasi and SP01?
Catherine Turnbull: As a global business development agency working with preeminent and emerging Architects, Interior and Product Designers, Studios and Brands, we are always on the lookout for collaborations that fit with us and our ethos. SP01 has that something special which we believe will work well in the European market. It’s not just about the brand and its products however – it’s as much about the people behind the brand. We speak the same aesthetic language and share the same company values. In Europe, we will be focused on opening the European retail network, supporting on marketing and helping to develop B2B sales.
How did Grès et Delibasi come about?
Elaine Enright: Grès et Delibasi was founded after recognizing an opportunity to more effectively bridge the creative industry with industry partners who both value and depend on authentic design. It was a natural progression from Architecture and Interior Design to supporting designers and brands that wished to fully leverage both retail and industry sales. With over 25 years experience in retail and the creative industry, our previous collective experience includes working with brands such as Piet Boon, Nike and Levi Strauss & Co, and our know-how allows us to build businesses “on-brand”, respecting and understanding the relationships required to build a sustainable business.
How many brands does Grès et Delibasi represent?
Catherine: We prefer quality to quantity and hence keep our portfolio of brands to those where we see an excellent collaborative and commercial opportunity. We look for a balance within the portfolio – where brands complement each other rather than compete. For example, we work with Pininfarina Extra, an established and premium brand based in Italy and with emerging talent like Kocowisch, a young studio based in the Netherlands. We also work with Bethan Gray who combines a passion for luxurious natural materials and traditional craftsmanship. Together with SP01, we believe we have a portfolio that is both unique and authentic.
How long has Grès et Delibasi been around for?
Elaine: The idea for Grès et Delibasi has been incubating since 2013 and the company was formally established in 2015.
What was it that attracted you to SP01 and the collection?
Catherine: There was an immediate connection with the team at SP01 when we met for the first time in Sydney. With both Elaine and myself originating from New Zealand, there was a natural attraction to working with a brand from Australia. The European furniture market is highly competitive but is always open to something new. Coupled with the collaboration of great designers, the highest quality materials, attention to detail and Italian manufacturing, we were won over by SP01’s vision and execution.
